Will that be the colour of your project Glen? Interior looks to be tan as well?

Re: Pictures of 356's in original paint colors
Original project color was Ruby. Had my share of shades of red, all were huge citation purveyors. The project is coming back as Aetna Blu with a lighter shade of Indian Red leather interior, including several shades of accenting fitments, ala BMW color blending techniques. Lots of touches to all aspects of the project; why leave well enough alone when so many improvements have been made in the years since the project left the barn?
Twin plugs for the heads, direct case oil flow to the spindle rockers, one of SS header and muffler system, 911 type air shroud, dry sump and early 911 front oil radiator plumbing (read more oil and heat rejection in the system for improved temperature control), sound stops in the interior bulkheads, leather window lifts, A model driver and passenger windows (read wingless), 911 aluminum bumpers and shock assemblies modeled after the appearance of the original bumper hardware, bolder front sway bar and z-bar at the rear, Bilsteins on all corners, lighter responding rear torsion bars, rear braking modulation for better braking control of the original drum system, Early Bosch 911 12V alternator rewound to produce more amps at 6V than the original generator ever imagined, Leoni relays, fresh wiring harness, 914 seats by Autos International, LED everything including Cbie headlights, new SCAT crankshaft (staying with 1600cc engine but with lighter pistons and rods), and the list continues. One dayyyyyy, it will feel the curves under its tires again, Lord willing. Current project condition at

Re: Pictures of 356's in original paint colors
I posted a few years back about a 1958 356A coupe I had owned in special color orange. It was 103859 with engine 82105. It was a striking color with black leather upholstery, oatmeal carpets and chrome wheels, I wonder how many were painted this color since I had only seen two others in this color while I owned my car from 1959 to 1964.

Re: Pictures of 356's in original paint colors
Tom,
My '59 Coupe was originally the special Orange with tan floor mats, oatmeal carpets and beige leatherette.
I never saw it that color. When I bought it in 1973 it was green, before that it was painted silver or white.
When I restored it I stripped all the layers of old paint and painted it black.
I've only seen a very few orange 356's in the last 40 plus years. Maybe four or so(???)

My 58 Speedster sporting its original orange paint. It was ruby red when I bought her.
But the restoration was to be factory original- I had no idea how good this would look

Never been a huge fan of orange cars (there are only a few that can pull it off IMHO), and this baby is one of those!! She looks awesome, Ross. 8)Ross Copeland wrote:My 58 Speedster sporting its original orange paint. It was ruby red when I bought her.

In 2004 one of the club members of the Porsche 356 Club Switzerland had a Notchback in Condor Yellow. That's what the owner told us and because it was the only one, we had not another car to compare. My Notchback is in Ruby Red.

Paint to Sample picked up at the factory during 1958 Treffen. Per Ron Roland he knew the car and owner well until she moved to Florida after retiring.
