Dear friends,
following post written by my friend Jim Phillips on the same argument, I want to share informations of my car with all of you.
My Sahara beige early A cabriolet born on october 1956. VIN # is 61406, engine # is 63159 (1600N) with 32 pbic solex carbs. Trans # is 108 BBBC (I do not know if is original while someone told me that 108 means 10th week of year 1958 or october 1958); this info was not scheduled on the COA. Car born with red leather inside, sealed beam and american style bumpers. No info about keys numbers.
Car was delivered to Max Hoffman NY on 1957. I bought it at the end of 2004 in L.A. CA in desperate conditions. A lot of parts were missing but little by little I'm finding all original parts. My goal is to recreate all perfect original details.

Friends,
I bought my car at the end of 2004. I found it on a very important web site. Car was located in Culver City (L.A. vicinity). In the advertising car was listed as a 100% complete car needs restoration.
When I received car in Rome-Italy, engine was missing because left with another container and reached Germany (I received it two months later) and a lot of parts were missing.
I could not find windshild, glasses, gauges, rear seats, mirrors, horn staff, shift lever, pedals, outside scripts, hood handle, sunvisors etc.
Fortunately car was matching number, doors, engine lid and hood were correct stamped numbers. I tried to get back part of money but without success. I could not speak anymore with this poor man (I do not want to tell his name but I bet that a good number of you know him) so I decided to restore the car. I found correct gauges (with correct dates stamped on),and step by step I'm looking for and finding all correct items.
I'm more than proud about this work and I will inform you later how I've found friends who helped me to make a correct restoration.
