Another BT6
I'm starting a BT6 11/1962 restoration
VIN : 122510 , engine & trans fully matching, 1600S 75hp
Electrical Sunroof
I don't have much history of the car, if you know it, tell me !
The car was in California and I managed the transfert to France, quite easily
All the parts were in boxes, not sure that it will be complete but the it seems that most of them are present.
some pictures of the car and received as bought

Re: Another BT6
After few weeks the car has been transferred to a local bodywork shop, specialized in Classic cars
After a deep check of rusts and ordering of missing / damaged parts the work started

Re: Another BT6
In the meantime the engine is opened
Bad news, there are a lot of parts that are damaged or to be replaced : a small piece of one piston is missing, I imagine that the metal went into the oil and made some damages on the crankshaft
I'm not an expert, the engine will be fully rebuilt by a professional
The crankshaft can be saved, the piston and cylinder will changed as well as the oil pump and camshaft

Re: Another BT6
The transmission number, 39956, is from September of 1960. Check to see if that is really the number on the transmission, or an error on the COA.
My records show 59956, November 1962, chassis 122510 on eBay in December 2018.
So.. another documented COA mistake.

Re: Another BT6
Vic, thanks for bringing that up. I have T6 117668, with the transaxle bearing a number of 50224. I was pretty certain that it’s the original to the car but don’t have the kardex. Thanks for your knowledge as my mind kind of reeled a bit looking at his COA.

50224, Sept 1961.117668, 68th Reutter T-6 coupe, built September 1961. Probably original.

Re: Another BT6
After 1 year of hard work the car is back to home, ready for the next phase : installation of all the equipments
I need to check but almost 300 hours have been spent to restore the car and repaint it
Numerous metal sheet have been replaced (floor, doors, aisle, engine compartment ...)
The color is the original one Heron Grey (the car will be fully matching) and after several test and hesitation I went for the Spies Hecker 6207, and I very happy with the result

Re: Another BT6
I'm making some progress : first step was to change front needle bearing
It's not so hard, I had to build my own extraction tool "P54"
I have measured the angle between the torsion bar and the axles at 140° as per the workshop manual. What is strange is that I had to loose at the maximum the threaded set pin, is it normal ? (meaning that the angle is and will 140 maximum)

Re: Another BT6
Grease injection (almost 800grams of grease was necessary for both tube)
As I'm installing the double bearing from 356C instaed of orignal one (BT6) I added the spacer
measurement of the gap, 7mm for both sides

Installation of insulation : Noico Black 80 Mil as the first layer and then a 3mm foam layer as second layer. I intend to add a third layer later on
