Looking for Recommendation for 356 Shops and Mechanics in SF Bay Area

#1 Post by Lisa Antonino »

I need help finishing up the restoration of our 1964 356C Coupe - transaxle, transmission, bits and pieces here and there. Would love to get recommendations for shops/mechanics within a 30 mi radius of San Mateo CA in the SF Bay Area.

Transmissions are unforgiving. It would be worth your while to ship your transmission to Vic Skirmants. As you can see I live here too, and can't recommend anyone local. As for the bits and pieces, that depends on what they are. I would join the local Porsche 356 Club, which meets for breakfast on the first Saturday of each month, for breakfast at Jacks in Fremont, or check on line.

Many years ago I had Ron’s Transaxle Repair fix my 63 B's transmission. He did a fine job. So he is an option if you want to use someone in the SF Bay Area.

Ron's Transaxle is the Go-To guy in the SF Bay Area. He did my '65 356C.
Good job, fast service and reasonable rates.

Kurt Patterson at Deutche Motorsport in Concord or Bill Eason at Eason Autowork in Oakland are both excellent.
