81213 Status

#1 Post by Rusty Ferrell »

Next week we will start the metal work on her. Floors, longitudinals, etc. My plan is to make the car structurally sound and leave the body as is, just wet sand it down to the original paint, the drive her for a while to see if I want to undergo further work, you guys know the drill. She's a bit rough, but has all of its original pieces, so I'll refurbish those the best I can for the moment. I'll keep you posted as to our progress.

Bet those wheels are heavy. Nice to see you keeping the car as-is, too many over restored cars out there.

The wheels make up for the car being so light. Trust all is well.

I'm just razzin' ya. If anyone seriously says anything about the wheels tell them the same thing I do, if they were good enough for Steve McQueen they are good enough for me.

Removed the engine this morning to clean things up and to find any signs of a S/n, model or type. Only thing on the case is the match number of 742, nothing else. Is this a replacement case from spare parts?

Most likely a replacement.

Back then connecting rods were weak and cases were vulnerable.
