Re: 1959 coupe project
I am not so sure about the bayonet turn signals on late A coupes. Mine 108438 delivered 7/17, and Stewart Wadsworth's 108843 8/12. Both were tourist ordered, factory delivered cars, Stewart's Dad bought it in 1960 and it is very original, and mine as far as I know is mostly correct too. They "grew up" within 15 miles of each other. Both have the two screw retaining ring style from turn signals. There was an "old story from many years ago", that in February of 59, the German "DOT" found out that the bayonet lenses were not the correct "K" number as submitted for approval. Porsche was required to utilize the old style lens and housing until the B cars came out with the approved bayonet style, which may have changed in April. Some of the 1958-59 Mercedes had the twist-on bayonet style that will fit dont know the K number for these, but their earlier (pre-59) two screw types were and have K2665, same as the 356s.

https://porsche356registry.org/article/233 This Tech Article doesn't totally clear up the issue that Steve discusses above, i.e. the modified bayonets that may have prompted the transition from the SWF2665 fixtures to the K12627 fixtures, but at least Tom will know some of the pieces to look for in his parts stash.Steve Douglas wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 12:57 pm I am not so sure about the bayonet turn signals on late A coupes. The 190SL Mercedes used a bayonet-style fixture numbered SWF12665 pictured below.
I have one for sale on the Hemmings site if somebody needs one. https://www.hemmings.com/parts/ad_detail?id=16858
I don't have a lens for the SWF12665 fixture, but they are very similar - if not the same as the Porsche lenses. Both the clear K13306 and the amber K13384 bayonets fit on the Mercedes fixture.

Spencer, the 12665 is very similar to the outer part of a B or C (K13306), i believe only the studs are a little shorter. The K2665 / K12627 you had for sale here is the last iteration for the T2 A - https://porsche356registry.org/classifieds/26090. My D came with those.

Re: 1959 coupe project
I gathered that since some vendors who offer the SWF12665 say that it's for either a 190SL or a 356. I've never had a B or C, only pre-As and As, so I followed the 2010 tech article by Jim Breazeale, Steve Douglas, Bill Leavitt, Brad Ripley, Brett Johnson and Colin Thorpe that states:Jules Dielen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:07 pm the 12665 is very similar to the outer part of a B or C (K13306), i believe only the studs are a little shorter.
I didn't want to post a non-Porsche part on the Registry site so I started fishing around to find out what the SWF12665 came off of and ended up posting the piece on Hemmings classifieds as a Mercedes part.Starting with the B model in the 1960 model year, there finally appears to be some clarity! For the 356B and 356C, the SWF K13306 unit was used—dare we say it?—exclusively through the end of 356 production (photos below). For the first time the front turn signals had a left / right difference, that is, a right-side unit would not fit properly on the left side of the car, and vice versa. From the exterior, K13306 appears very similar to K12627 but it had provisions for two bulb sockets. US cars had two bulbs installed (because the parking light in the headlight was deleted) while European versions had one bulb installed in the K13306 turn signal unit because the headlight parking light was still used.
Thinking I would never find a set of the "first wedge" K2665 fixtures that use the taller beehive lenses, I accumulated several bayonet-style lenses and fixtures. Now that I have a full complement of K2665 pieces for my '58, I'm clearing off some shelf space. Tom's lucky he doesn't have to look for these!Jules Dielen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:07 pm The K2665 / K12627 you had for sale here is the last iteration for the T2 A - https://porsche356registry.org/classifieds/26090. You’re doing a great job on your ‘59 A coupe restoration. When interior time comes, I make the proper recreated Reutter Headliner for your car. The material is color matched very light grey with the elongated Diamond hole perforation pattern. Contact me for more info if interested. best/Michael
