Have you ever tried Wray's flexible shape pattern method. It's a great way to get perfect symmetry from one side to the other.

You copy one side with the tape, and then reverse it with the other side. I can get pics when I'm out there this week if you need more info.

i haven't ,yes post pics,thanks
Here it is on the rear fender of the 550 project. You do it in sections, pull it off the car, and lay it on the piece you're working on, once it is tight to the piece you have the shape you need. To do the opposite side you reverse the taped section. It's brilliant in it's simplicity. You can check out more on Wray's site http://www.proshaper.com or on youtube

The doors were very different from car to car on some of these. A friend had an RS60 in his shop years ago, it had this big X brace on the passenger side by the door. It was an ex-race car so no one really knew why it was there. They cut it and the car immediately relaxed, causing a door gap of over an inch. They traced down owners and it turns out the door got crinkled pretty bad and they found another door, but it was an inch shorter, so their Saturday Solution was to shrink the car to match the door.
