Merry Christmas all.

In the process of putting my dash back together and I was wondering what is the purpose of the hole above the glove box? I did not take it apart so it is a mystery to me at this point. 1964 356 C coupe.
Thanks in advance fit all the help.

Scott,

When you took the glovebox apart you would have removed a screw from there and if you open the glovebox lid you will see another similar hole which is offset to the left.

These are the retaining holes for the metal band that holds the glovebox in place.

Here is a picture showing my glovebox with those 2 holes shown.

OK. That makes sense now. I only wish I had taken this car apart, but it makes for a fun learning process.

Thanks again for all the help.

Originally there was a white thin domed plastic liner sitting behind the screw so that when the head makes contact with th painted dash and you tighten it, it doesnt chew up the painted finish. By the time they got to the C the factory was running out of things to perfect!
