Has anyONE used the EMPI 6v to 12v rheostat P/N 9344?

Apparently not based on the lack of replies. Most of the regular 356 vendors sell a pretty nice 12v to 6v converter so that you can retain your old w/s wiper motor after a 12V conversion.
The disadvantage is that it is about $100.

Thanks Greg,

I have seen that device and was wondering about the EMPI part that is $40. I know in the past I have used these type of devices on Bugs with good results. I cannot see a reason it would not work on a 356.

Thanks again.

If I recall, most old VWs have a one speed wiper and the Empi part will drop the voltage but vary it with the knob to between, say 5 and 7 volts to give it a variable speed. Since the 356 wipers, later anyway, already have a rheostat built into the switch to vary the current through the shunt circuit to give it a variable speed feature, you will have two variable voltage sources to play with. Will probably work after you get it set it to a voltage it likes ...
