59' 356A CAB - Resurrection...
My unrestored 1959A cabriolet (titled as a 1958 hard top cab) was carted to a small section in the barn last fall for new carpert...I figured a few weeks. As it turns out I went for a DIY interior change as well...fresh seals/undercoating/paint/wheels/rubber and a full "going over" of every detail...I still intend to get her back on the road this summer...
I am working on this "project"....and it is still in progress with photos being added every week or two.
some photos may help with those "in search of"...while other may prove to be of little use...

Hi Charles,
I am curious - you say your car was titled as a 58 hard top cab. Did the car come only with a hardtop and no soft top? I ask because the interior rear quarter panels in the car are the version for a cab with a soft top. The interior rear quarter panels for a cab with hard top closely follow the inner fenders and extend further toward the rear of the car than the soft top parts.

Re: 59' 356A CAB - Resurrection...
Bill there does seem to be some questions there by my own accounts...The CA calls out a cab Mfg. date in 58' and model year 59'...with a hardtop as one of the options...and the vehicle is (was) titled as a 58' late in cincinatti that same year. there are some unusual differences where screws were used instead of bolts in some locations and visaversa (when compared to other authentic 59s). When purchased in 68' it donned the rag top stowed in place and the hardtop attached. We knew it had a re-paint (from silver) that year as well as some front quarter damage repaired (still have the bent up overiders). I dont know, but have been assurred through some porschephiles and buffs that they have seen both interior versions...and flipping through photos in search of knowledge during my interior replacemnt project...I had seen both as well...but I do not "know" if it came this way, or was supposed to be this way...or not. I am hopeful to put this question to rest one day...
keeping in mind...I have seen very few cars to compare...
Your cab number looks very close to mine...and assume it has an interior that varies from this one?
Steve
