Not aware that Porsche used that range of numbers for a replacement chassis.

I would start looking at each piece that is numbered, dated or otherwise unique to the '58 time frame. That will help with determining which parts started life together. There are obviously many possibilities but this weight of evidence approach should help bring things into focus.

lars congratulations what a nice car. it will be fun to bring back to a running condition. it has great potential. it will will give you an opportunity for personal growth. it is already showing signs of mystery. one thing to remember is that the previous owners may have taken some creative liberties or allowed neglect that you now must come to grips with. you want the car to reflect your standards and be representative of your quality of life but now you may be scratching your head and wondering what you have got into. i suggest you work on your car and give it lots of love and effort and $ and see if it will please you. many others would gladly assume your position. again what a nice car.
