WCSTA -33- Yellow '62 "Lightweight" Coupe

#1 Post by Tom Niedernhofer »

This is one sad "Poorsche" (Yes, I mean "poor"!). I am guessing about 40% of the sheet metal was removed as donor material for other cars. It was hacked up years ago and sat in the back of a repair shop's yard, waiting to donate more metal for another 356, we guess. Years ago we would have cut this one up, but today, "We Can Save The All".

It is a fairly straight car. It's missing some of the fenders, the tail, the floor, and strange enough, therear seat shelf and the area directly below that, and so much more. It looks like it never has a wreck, but met its demise with a saw and chisel.

And, after a couple of beers, my friends have pushed me towards the challenge. Just wonder if it's ugly enough! We think it is! -Must be crazy to start a project like this.

By the end of May it will be moved into the shop. Tin worms, -beware!

I'll post a bit more later.

Tom - you're right - what were they thinking to cut up a good body - times have changed ...
Might have put 4 other cars back on the road is the only consolation.
Hard to believe it still has the hood!

Why do you call it a '61?

Hi Vic. 1961 production as a '62 Production Model. Your are correct. T6 B.

-TN

(It's still a pretty sad car nevertheless, but I am sure we can make it whole again.
