Hello,
I just purchased this beauty and wanted to share the process of my restoration with you.
As the story goes, after a massive train accident in the 70's the front end had to be cut off to free the rest of the body from the wreckage. She then spent the next 40 years in a Texas wrecking yard having all her parts stripped and sold - the weather took it's toll as well. A friend of mine was looking for parts for customer cars and told me to check it out. I followed the link, saw the little sad looking 356 and I knew I could save her -- she had to be mine!
After some phone calls a deal was made and I was on my way to fetch the little train wreck.

Re: WCSTA -32- 1956 A 1600 Coupe "Train Wreck"
I have burned through my 3rd large can of penetrating oil. While making strides to to get the car completely disassembled. I'm taking detail photos and notes of what hardware goes where.
So far most things make sense. But a few times now I find stuff that doesn't make sense. And after some research I figure out whats what.
Now I have one that I can not find any info on. Its a small black rubber grommet on either side of the license plate about half way down.
My question is was this a PO or dealer modification or factory correct?
Thanks,
Sven

Not factory. Maybe mounts for some wide plate as used in some countries.
