Here is my sad little 356 rust bucket entrant. I acquired this little gem as part of of a package. The idea was that the 1963 would serve as a parts car for a later model. This idea was only what appears to be any number of plans for this poor little baby. It was painfully clear from all the existing pop rivets and old pop rivet holes that someone had patched, repatched and tried to hold this baby together with pop rivets. I don't know when, but someone cut the top off in the hopes of doing a coupester project. I wasn't particularly happy about the idea of using the engine and trans from the 356B normal on an S. I sent for certifcates of authenticity and when they came I started checking serial numbers. As it turned out, the "63 engine, chassis, and trans were all numbers matching. I made a mental committment at the time that the '63 had to be saved despite the sorry condition it was in. Yes, it will need virtually an entire chassis rebuild, and the B pillars on the top are going to be a challenge, but most of the running gear is there. This is not going to be an easy project, but I don't give up easily. It has been many years since I have seriously turned wrenches or hammered metal, but the first car I ever worked on was an old 356 that belonged to a friend of mine many long years ago when I was still in high school. This will be a fun challenge. I give you my 356B.

I'm giggling. That's a pile! I think we'd all like to see that one put back together…very humpty-dumpty.

Thanks for the submission!

..and we have #16.

edit…I thought it was a HT coupe--hard to see the shape when it's all jumbled up like that!

Ya gotta admit - it does take up less room in the garage when the pieces are piled on top of each other =8^)

Hi Tim,
I'm excited to follow your restoration project! I'm working on serial 212200 '63 B right now. The car has been in my family since about '79. It was my daily transport in high school and college until some crazy person smashed into the back of it. Last year of driving was 1983. It's a bit of a mess, but we dropped the motor two weeks ago. Motor is in the shop now and we are on our way! Go WCSTA!!!
