engine run on or dieseling

#1 Post by Steve Nau »

I am nearing completion after 4.5 years on restoring my 1956 coupe.
One remaining issue is that after a drive when I turn off the engine it diesels/runs on for a few rotations.
The engine does not appear to be hot so my question is what would cause this and how do I fix it.

It could be your timing is off probably too far advanced, check it. Possibly running lean, otherwise it is usually caused by carbon hot spots in the combustion chamber so run some Chevron Techron through it.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
