I found it in a car lot in Eastern Washington. You can see the car lot. a totaled insurance car' it had rolled down a hill and hit a parked car in 1976 been parked John the guy that owned it was sure he was going to get around it fixing it up. So it was not for sale at any price. Took me two years to get it from him. He wanted to buy a 37 chev and need money. The only thing that keep it from turning in to a Big V when I pulled it on to the trailer was the heating tubes.

Fast foreword about year, lot of things have gone on with the car project. The engine rebuild is about complete. Body work done, pulled in new wires, rebuilt front end, new brake system, finely put it on a rotisserie, scraping underside getting ready to finish that up. then off to the painters. May take six or seven months to get rest done. been putting a lot of time on it and it shows

The project is moving. But ever so slowly. Got the transmission installed but having problems with it not locking in the wheels when in gear. not sure why. The transmission seems to go in to gear but the wheels spin freely, need to figure it before I install the motor.

Are you spinning one wheel and the other one turns in the opposite direction? That is how the differential works.
How are you keeping the input shaft from turning?

Hay Vic: When I roll the wheel the other side rolls the opposite way. but the input shaft is not turning it, feels like its in gear and can not turn input by hand. It like its not locking in the wheels Not sure if its in the adjustment or internal. Has a friend open it up, and inspect it never replaced anything it looked clean.

That is what it is supposed to do. Put an old clutch disc on the input shaft; I'll bet you can turn it then.

I tried the clutch plate , I can turn the input shaft when in gear it feels like it is slipping over the gears not quite engaged an not rolling the wheels. is there any to adjust other then shifting plate

When turning the input shaft when in gear, the wheels won't turn? Same in reverse? No adjustment.

yes I can feel the gears bump when I turn the shaft , wheels do not turn I can get in all five gears same thing

You mentioned that the trans was rebuilt. The only explanation I come up with is that the ring gear bolts are broken? So the ring gear turns when in gear, and the differential works as designed.
