Help with paint color code

#1 Post by Mario Jedwabnik »

I already searched the forum and can't seem to find the information that I need. I am wondering if anyone could help in determining how to choose the proper color match using today's paint. I am in the process of restoring my 1963 car and it calls for Silver Metallic. Will I have a problem getting the paint to match the original?

Mario: I recently painted my 1961 car silver. The following thread is helpful ... with specific recommendations by Bruce Baker and Tim Herman, two guys that know what they are talking about. Despite al the good advice I selected a Ferrari colour: Argento Nurburging. Two other considerations with a metallic paint are flake size (the smaller is more original to the 356 era) and "flop," the orientation of the metallic flakes as they are laid down in the paint surface. Good luck with your decision.
