Thanks Jim, belated reply I know but we had a bit of a hiatus towards the end of last year. Working on the rear of the car now and getting around to compiling engine parts.

The RD shelf panels are well made and a good fit. However, unless they've added it since 2014 you'll have to fabricate the middle bracket for the underside. I sent photos to Mike back then, but I don't know if he started including the piece or not. I rounded off the forward corner a bit so I don't rip a hole in my forehead some day!

Spencer thanks for that. No one one wants a hole in the forehead. Had a small issue with the engine pan being slightly the wrong size even though the pressings are correct so Mark has reworked it to match the original. Also fabricated a new rear panel to replace the rusted one - you can see side by side in one of the pics.

Thanks Jim. Putting together engine parts as we speak. We have a case from a late '52 build '53 model car with various heads/accessories etc. Engine Number #30797. The engine that came with the car (#30393) has just completed a full (and beautiful) rebuild and is going into a '52 cabriolet restoration in Spain. I couldn't convince the owner to let me have it! At least we have a period correct starting point.

Slow going but making progress. Rear clip fitted, engine cover fits very well. Doors in fairly poor shape - I have new skins but wondering if it’s more economical to try and find new doors somewhere, if they’re even available.

Don't even THINK of replacing your original doors. No replacement will fit even close. Fix what you have. Others have saved worse ones.

Vic is absolutely correct.
Even if you found some 52 doors you’d end up rebuilding the car to fit the replacements.

Oh, and your progress looks terrific Scott!
I use an old-school, Kiwi metal worker (panel beater he likes to say) who could make those doors like new, but shipping to California wouldn’t be practical. Whoever’s doing your metal work thusfar is doing a super job, & in the end you’ll be happy you saved the original doors.

Scott, I’ve fixed doors that we’re in similar condition (see picture). Takes a lot of time, but totally doable.

Thanks for that link Trevor. Original door restoration is underway. I’m heading out to Dubbo to see the car this weekend and have a chat to Mark. He’s a real perfectionist - the attention to originality, down to e.g. replicating the exact type of factory welds is on another level. Here’s another couple of pics from last week.

I have a set of Body Bumpers coming from Restoration Design. Their last front bumper. Anybody want to buy them from me. I was mistaken about my 52/45 Glaser. It takes stand off bumpers.
