55' Continental Cab taking shape

#1 Post by Todd Tessler »

I bought this Continental Cab about 5 years ago. Progress has been slow but its taking shape now. I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel! Very happy with progress for my first 356 project. All numbers matching and a really good car. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

It is a really nice color now that the car is coming together. Wasn't sure at first and actually thought about making it black. Glad I followed the COA. Didn't want to do this kind of car and then have to explain why I didn't follow the original specs. Thanks for looking at it.

Well done Todd, terra cotta over terra cotta, I like it, it must be rare. You will be the only one parked on the golf course with those colors....well done indeed. I see you upgraded the seat mount studs, I would too.

Thanks Tom. Appreciate the thoughts.

I prefer to be on the pavement at Cars & Coffee rather than the grass. See you at the coffee shop!!

Nothing like being in the home stretch eh?
There's a special feeling you get when you finally get to put all those little restored parts you've been working on independently on the car and know it's the last time,...no more fitting up, fixing up, adjustments here and there, it's all coming together.

I noticed the upgraded seat mounts too, a nice addition that adds a bit of safety without being intrusive.
I see nice tail light bezel numbers too!

Great job, and congrats!

That's a beautiful original color. Never seen another like it. Truly one of a kind! Did CPR paint your car?

1973.5 911 T Coupe Ivory.
1989 911 Carrera Targa Grd Prix White.

It is gratifying to see a project come together after a long restoration. But if you thing that's gratifying, wait till you start driving it!

I remember that car back in the early 1980s in Kailua Hawaii. It was owned by what we termed "gypsies" and they didn't want to sell it. It moved around a bit over the years and the owner moved to Las Vegas leaving the car in Hawaii. It ended up out in the weeds at a church when Frank Wong bought it. He ended up selling it to CPR. If you want more background, I can put you in touch with Frank. The reason this car also sticks in my mind is that I owned 60900 at the time I first saw it and thought how unusual that two cars 3 numbers apart were within a few miles of each other. I donated some parts to Mike at CPR for the car.

Wow!
Todd your car is exceptional!!!!
You have really done it the right way, gap fittings, undercoating, details in the chrome.
And the body and paint work look top notch. The original Terra Cotta color was the right choice.
You have got to post pictures upon completion.
Coffee & Croissants is fun, but you gotta roll it on the lawn a couple of times before that,
you have earned some bragging rights.
Congrats.
