Philip Bernard has entered his 57 Coupe which has been beat rather severely around the snout. Nothing that a great deal of time and money can't fix, though.
Best of luck to you, Philip!

Last day of entry into the contest! Then we have the tough job of narrowing it down for the final vote...

All: at the 11th hour of the last day to enter, here is a "real" project that we are going to save. Please do not laugh!
At the end of the month of May it will be moved into the shop. Yellow '61 Coupe. We are not sure why it was a donor car so many years ago...it is generally straight. Should have been scrapped back then, but today we have to "save them all"!

OK - we have five last minute entrants - these are the folks that submit their taxes at 8pm on April 15, but none-the-less, there are some real dogs in this batch. But if they save them, well God Bless 'Em!
Balazs Ormai - 64 Coupe
David Gill - '58 Coupe
Sven Sivertson - 56 Coupe
Tom Niedernhofer - 61 Coupe
Tammy Dorwart - T6 Coupe

Tom and Tammy still have to start their threads, but we'll cut them some slack

Regardless of who wins, this contest may have been the kick in the pants that gets these projects started. I hope everyone keeps posting progress pictures as these babies progress back into road-going beauties.

Dang, I guess I missed the deadline - by a quarter century! For reference, this is what was NOT being saved 25 years ago. Aase Brothers' junkyard in the summer of 1990. I wonder how many of these cars survived, or if any of them are in our contest today?

We still have a couple of folks that need to start their own thread - here's how you do that in the FAQ section

Thanks Stoddard. What a nice surprise to get your newsletter and seeing my car featured. My heart skipped a beat seeing her again. Does anyone else see what I see? She is patiently waiting for me to return. I keep remembering her and the great times we had together. Looking forward to having those great times again. Also thanks to the members who have helped me and given me advise.

Yes saw that too, I do not need as much as some, but all of them need that push......
Got my welding skills all set to go, going to be a blast all round.
Good luck everyone.

Gordon - the cars in Aase's yard look better than some of the contestants' cars!
A lot of not so bad cars went to the crusher back in the day.
My first C coupe came from a collection similar to these cars. A good car from the quarter windows forward and a pristine rear clip from the door jambs back. Unfortunately, the guy who made them into one car for me did a hack job - I could have done better myself. Live and learn...

Greg, that was my point. Almost all of the cars that Dave and Dennis had were much cleaner than the current contest cars, and would probably all be back on the road already if they had survived. The good news is it proves the 356's popularity is increasing.

I don't envy the job of choosing the most deserving. There are so many candidates that can make a valid case, it's going to be tough. Good luck to all.

We are working through that now. I've tasked my folks here at Stoddard to pick their top six independently and we're seeing the trends that develop out of that. There are some early 'leaders' with five of the 10 experts weighing in thus far.
