Re: Just Completed 1958 356 A Restoration
I really enjoyed this 356 project. Please let me know if you have questions or there is anything that I can do to help you with your car. With this coupe now gone, I currently have an opening at my shop in Tennessee (no project is too small).

Thanks Tom. I am looking forward to transporting your Porsche to Florida and showing it during the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance in February.Tom Cole wrote:Wow! Jamie your work is incredible. I am really enjoying the 912 that you restored.

I was able to load all of the 356 A Coupe restoration pictures into Google. The link above makes it easier to view the whole story.

Very nice. Now for the nit-picking: later 741 trans housing, axle boot seams vertical (they don't flex well in that direction).
T-6 grease fitting access hole in right front chassis diagonal. I know that's the only one supplied by the vendors, but it's simple to fill it in.

Great work, museum quality. Another nit: The inside door tops and the panels under the rear side windows should be the same color as the dash pad. You have them the color of the car. It was done so that the color of the dash carried all the way around the interior. As you can see from the photo of the interior, the silver breaks up the interior lines. See Neil's Book for the last word on what is correct for an A car.

Really nice work and the attention to detail, especially on the bottom of the car and engine is impeccable! It's obvious this is not your first restoration.James Hery wrote:I just completed this 356 restoration. Thanks, Jamie.

Re: Just Completed 1958 356 A Restoration
Thanks Ryan and Cliff. I am relatively young compared to many who do classic Porsche restorations, but grew up in the business and have been developing my skills and reputation over the past two decades. My shop is directly behind my home in Tennessee and I personalize services for each project with none being too small. I take my work and the satisfaction of my customers very seriously and try to learn something new every day. I value and appreciate the members and information exchanged on this forum. Thanks again for your posts. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.Cliff Hanson wrote:Really nice work and the attention to detail, especially on the bottom of the car and engine is impeccable! Re: Just Completed 1958 356 A Restoration
Went back and looked at my notes and Neil's book. The 356 A that Neil shows has a red dash, but the body is also red in color. Tom is correct, the inside door tops and the panels under the rear side windows are dash color, but they are also body color. The car I restored had been done by someone else before, but I still found evidence of the original silver body color inside the door tops and panels under the rear side windows. For this reason, I decided to go the original body color route. Help me learn. Which one is factory? If I am wrong, I want to correct it for my customer before he shows his car. Thanks.Tom Tate wrote:Great work, museum quality. Another nit: The inside door tops and the panels under the rear side windows should be the same color as the dash pad.
