I love this big front disc brakes, they can be used with 5x205 wheels and 5x130 wheels too ?
Did you realise them yourself or is it something we can buy ?

Jim that is a gorgeous car, I plan on driving my car quite a bit also.

Neil - As for the disc brake I got a complete stage 3 kit from Airkewld with the 14mm studs (but the hub caps barely fit so I think I should have gone with the 12mm studs).

Mike you can order interchangeable bolt patterns and they support all early Porsche sizes.

Here are some photos of me removing the, paint, undercoating and grime under the car to see what lies beneath. Pretty amazing how much dirt and gunk is on the bottom of the car and in the wheel wells.

You should be kissing that gunk, remember some of the greasiest and dirtiest spots are the ones with the best metal underneath. I know guys who cover the underside in gearbox fluid from a sprayer, it collects everything, and thereby saves the metal.

Here is a picture of the radio. Anyone have an idea of where I can get a button or a proper year replacement?

Here is the car at the local Cars and Coffee. It's amazing how many people love the 356.

Well life got in the way and it's been a long time since posting. Sorry for the silence. But the work on the car continues, slow but with determination. Over the course of the next few months I will catch you all up on the last 5 year of restoration and the continued work to be done. I look forward to the journey with you all.

To restart; here is the original listing of the car I bought: (obviously the asking price was optimistic)
http://www.2040-cars.com/Porsche/356/po ... 6b-854746/

1963 Porsche 356B, matching numbers, runs, drives, and stops great. Bought from a guy that lived in Arizona and owned it 40 years, he restored it in 1974, painted it blue and put a blue interior in it, he told me the engine was a basket case and he rebuilt it with oem parts, at that time there was 28000 miles on speedo, so theres about 5k on motor, and the way it runs, drives, and sounds it makes sense. Have no proof of orginal mileage, could be 33k or 133k. i bought the car to fully restore, but with kid in college out of state, just dont have the funds. When i bought the car i ordered a C.O.A. from porsche, so it confirms the numbers matching. Car should be ivory/ 6204 white which is the color of dash, interior should be brown leather/H. eng # 609731, trans # 59700 (741/2A). car vin# is 212230. All lights, running lights, turn signal, horn tac, speedo work, the clock is not working, and the orginal blapunkt radio lights up when turned on but have no speakers so cant confirm its operational. The floors have been fiberglassed, on visual theres only a couple of spots that had small rust , nothing on vertical or longitude areas. so replacement floor panels will be easy fix. Body on car is straight, no dents, all body lines are straight and very nice. the paint is over 40 years old, and looks better in pics than it is. No carpet in car, does have orginal rubber mats. Mechanically the car is a great driver, will be an easy restoration project. please call bob with questions
