Early 1954 pre A Coupe (Denmark)
This is the start of my project, looking forword seeking all the know how all you have in here.
So i can make my car as perfect and orginal as possible.
Its the owner befor me who had the car painted a audi color, so when i find the orginal color for the car it will be repainted, but i need to fit all panels and parts to make sure they all fit perfect, cant have a newpainted car that does not fit perfect.
So the plan is to seek all the info i need on the car do the changes like the horn grills that are not correct for this car, and mount the hole car to make sure the other owner did a good job or else make them fit correctly.
Them take it appart and have it painted.
Here ill try and collect all the links to what issues I might have with the car ,and where I found the answers with links, so if other users have a early 1954 they know where to find the correct info.

Hej Christian, congrats on the project!
I belive I saw that very car in a local online add just recently? I could not get in contact with the owner/seller.
I got a COA via Porsche UK, they are much better to deal with than Porsche DK and DE. They where very kind, and emailed the numbers within a few hours. Some weeks later the official COA document arrived.

Hey all need a little help here.
I just got the Kardex and the color is R 509 CS adriab. And the interior says Cords. kunstl.
Is this adria blue or metalic? And what about interior color?
It looks like the car is dated the 11.6-1954 this must be the delivery date or what?
But i got confirmet that my engine and gearbox are matching numbers witch i like alot.

Re: Early 1954 pre A Coupe (Denmark)
Hi Christian,
Cool car and great color! Early Kardex often have the paint code and interior color/type all jumbled up between the Farbe and Polsterung boxes. For instance, mine says
Farbe:
R 505 CS fil-grau
Polsterung:
Leder
So this means is that the car is painted R505 Fish silver grey. It has a dark blue dash and door tops and dark blue carpet. The CS designation means that its a mix of vinyl and cloth, or leather and cloth. In the case of my car, it is leather and corduroy, as I have the original interior. Both are grey. And it has blue carpet. The Kardex lists "Leder", but that's really leather trim around a mostly corduroy interior, which was how the 1953 cars were built. In 1954, mostly vinyl or leatherette or Kunstleder was used, but still there was some corduroy on the seating areas. I have the complete interior for my car, including the grey headliner, which is a cotton brushed twill.
Sussing out your Kardex:
R509 is the Reutter code for Adria blue metallic. It is a silver with a blue tint, and it has a very, very fine metallic flake in it. Difficult to match, but it has been done successfully. Perhaps Ned Gorski can chime in.
CS means a mixture of corduroy and vinyl, which is also stated again in the Polsterung box as Cords. knunstl. Color is not stated, but is probably grey or beige. Blue would also have gone with Adria blue exterior, but I think blue interiors did not use corduroy; they used bedford cloth instead, at least in 1953 and earlier. Perhaps Ignacio can chime in.
Generally in 1954 for coupes, door panels, rear quarter panels, rear firewall, seat sides and back were all done in vinyl. Cord was used on the front seat centers (bottom and back) and on the rear seat centers (bottom and back). Carpet could have been blue or some color to match the upholstery. Perhaps other '54 owners can chime in.
Sounds gorgeous! Adria blue is one of the best colors these cars came in.
I don't think your car had pockets on the interior door panel, which was also unique to '53 cars but carried through early 1954. Eventually they started to use door pockets again in 1954.
As for the Jun 11, 1954 date, that is a production completion date. I.e. the date that the Porsche factory finished doing quality control and set a date for the warranty to expire. It seems kinda late as most of the last '53 model year cars were finished in April 1954, but given that this car was started as one of the last dozen or so '53 model year cars without horn grills, and there was a bit switchover to new stampings, it's possible the completion date just got pushed back. Recall that in late 1953 Porsche moved into their new Werk II factory across the street from Reutter, and this pushed back many of the 1954 updates that normally would have started in Oct 1953 to early in 1954.

I found a few with the combo you are talking about, and i can see thar adrian blue metalic have diffrent looks from light to a more darker coler, hard to say who is right, but is it possible to get a color code that match the new water paint they are using today.

Christian:
Here is the illustration of the defroster vents shown in the 1955 spare parts manual. This is what they should look like on the car. Try contacting Adam Wright adam@unobtanium-inc.com
He may have an old chassis that he would chop the vent tubes out of for you.

Here's some more photos. Basically, they have to connect from the lower defrost tube to the dash. So if your dash is in decent shape, then these can be be fabricated to fit. They have a complex, stamped shape though.

Christian,
Adam at Unobtanium is a great starting point. If he doesn't have a donor on hand currently, then you might try this guy in Georgia.
