I am going to paint my 1953 Coupe Adrian blue metallic. Going to ditch the early 1970's Porsche Tangerine color that someone else selected in the early 1980's. Everyone knows it is my car driving down the road because they have to put their sunglasses on! I've lived with it for 35 years but now it is my choice. I don't like the Palm Green which came on it. So the question is do you go with what you like or do you stick with the original color. If this were an "investment car" that was going to have a $200,000 -$300,000 value it might be different, but its not. It is an enjoyable driver, and being old school, it should be a 1953 Porsche color. The Reutter code for Adrian blue metallic is R509. Does anyone have a newer car color code that would be real close to this color? Thanks in advance for your help.

Can a Pre-A person please answer a couple questions: 1) My 53 Couple is missing a lot of trim. Do all 1953 cars have Reutter badges on the sides? 2) I checked with Stoddard and they have the "PORSCHE" emblem on the rear in chrome but only have a 1500 badge that is attached below it in gold. I think it came in chrome originally. What vendor would be best to deal with besides Stoddard?

I've decided to go almost all in with the body and paint restoration by re chroming everything that was not aluminum or replacing with new.

Everyone has their opinion but I think a well done paint job even if color switched won't kill your value. I restored my 64 C and didn't want the original Ivory. And since I knew it would be my one and only resto and a keeper I painted mine in the color I wanted. Metal flakes have changed but a very close match is Dastun color 356 Sometimes also called Smoky Blue Metallic from the 80s. I have been told that if you go to a 356 meet where there are several Adria Blue Metallic cars they all are just a bit different in color. Certainly the car looks a different color depending on the light. Almost Silver metallic inside under fluorescent lights, pale blue metallic in sun. PS Barb and Vic Skirmant's C is the same color and I think Brett Johnson has an A in the same color.
