1955 Continental Coupe Back On The Road!

#1 Post by Dennis Molnar »

My 1955 is finally back on the road. I know it has been off the road for at least 34 years, probably more. I purchased 12 years ago. Ironically the delivery date listed on the COA is June 28 1955 . A good omen to be road worthy again on its 59th birthday. It has been restored in its original colors. Silver metallic, Red vinyl with Gray Corduroy Inserts, Gray square weave carpets, Graphite Metallic dash and door trim. And of course all Gray knobs.

In a word,...SWEET!,...both in the fact that it's back on the road after all that time, and the car itself.
I especially like the script Bosch regulator,...now that's a hard find indeed.

My 55 coupe has a similar 'off road' experience, but is not far behind you,...will be fired up in the next month. (Sadly, missed already the kardex date of 6/24) Our cars can't be much off each other in vin numbers,...53739,...
How close?

Steve

My car is 26 cars after yours. Very close indeed. This is a question for all you Pre-A owners running 15 " tires. Can you fit the spare in the front trunk space where it belongs? Mine will not fit. A 16" fits fine.

Dennis, love the color scheme on your car. Is this 5406A? If so, that must be the dark silver metallic (R 543)?

And the leather(ette?) looks fantastic. Very much like the original stuff Reutter used. Lots of shine.
