Very nice work. Just catching up on this thread. How did you get behind the welded in nose patch to planish the weld, or was no planishing required?

Re: 1953 Porsche 356 Cab Resto
Phil,
I made the patch deep enough (from the distance between the drip rail and weld line) so cutting out just a little more than i needed to enable me to get a hand weight /dolly between the the outer skin(welded area) and the inner wall.
You cant metal finish anything unless you have access from behind. To be able to get access and metal finish means we will be able to use no body fillers and high build primer only.
thanks for checking out the thread.

Restoring the chassis,a decent amount of work due to the extensive damage received to the undercarriage.
Our first objective is to save as much of the original material as possible, where that is not possible we remake the panel to factory specifications and graft in.

Fantastic work!
How many hours did you and do you still plan to spend on metal work?

lots of hammering and dolly work to remove all the dents/damage in the floors.
We used a skim of lead where there was no access after pulling out the panel damage ,particularly under the tunnel area.
last couple of photos show how the floor /car came in.

Yes. Hot damn, that looks like beautiful work. I just wanted to post to let you know Jon, that at least one person out there is very appreciative of the photos you're posting. Thanks, and keep 'em coming.

yes, very nice!
I like the nice crisp line on the lower rear body by the bumper bracket holes. Looks very hard to do . . .

The car looks very glossy in the photos of the "fine tuning" sanding. Is this a wet sand with water on bare metal, or do you use some other lubricant?

8) It's so nice! It's a shame to cover it with paint. Great Work
