re. seatbelt anchor bolts:
Paul -
A tedious job well done in the recoating of your `64C coupe's seatbelt anchor bollts.
Interesting to note they are somewhat different than those on my `65C cab, which are zinc or cad plated, and have round eyes as shown in fig 4, pg S TRA 20, of the B/C Workshop Manual.
It appears there were other configurations not referenced.

Wil-
Check out Page S TRA 22a Figure 7 so see the factory reference to the style of bolt in Miss June. It also references which cars it started being used in. (coupe 120620, cabriolet 156850 and later).

Paul -
You're quite right.
Nevertheless, contrary to the fig 8 "Modified" rectangular eye bolt pictured for later cars, my cab (VIN 161617) mfg'd Jan`65 has the zinc/cad plated fig 7 round eye bolts. As such, perhaps an indication there was an undocumented mix of configurations in original B/C cars. Who knows?

That's really nicely done, Paul--notably, the plastic-dip routine is also used on part of the Euro heater cans, though it's a little trickier to get right.

Thank you Jim. I wondered if it was used in any other places. Can you post a photo just for educational purposes??

Next time I go under the car I'll snap a shot, but in the interim there's a control valve on eBay that has a look at the part. In this http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-356-B-C ... 4d&vxp=mtr

The center picture of the valve shows the part, it's at the top of the picture, the bit where the spring attaches to. That piece is the one where the wire from the heater control attaches, and 90 degrees away from that there's a turnbuckle ( that can occasionally get bent from road hazards) that opens the valve. This piece is coated like the seat belt anchors. If you ever rebuild one there's a little wire retainer that holds the turnbuckles on, it doesnt snap off like the ones on the accelerator linkage.

Note: this guy just painted whe whole assembly grey, they don't normally look like that.

Thanks Jim. That's good info. The coating process is kind of fun and if there was another spot on my car that could use it I would eagerly tackle the job.

On another note: Still collecting headliner scraps to try and repair my original headliner. :?

Very nice work Paul!
I have some original 64C headliner remnants. What size pieces are you looking for? If I have anything you can use you are welcome to it.

Thanks very much Ashley!
I have pulled out all my glass and I managed to get the original headliner out without creating any new damage!
Photo of it is below. I am hiding the ugly back end where it separated (tore away) from the back window and the rips in the back corners. It was also kind of brittle back there and stained on the back side like it had been wet before.

More good news was I found no new rust under the glass at the corners or under the rubber!!

I have talked to my interior guy who I am very comfortable with his resume and abilities. He is willing to do this project, but of course he cannot guarantee the old headliner won't rip when being put back on. I will be required to sign a waiver not holding him responsible if it does. I understand and am not arguing this point.

All that being said, I need all the good sections I can get my hands on.
Some might rip. Some may be sunbleached. Some may be from different die lots, etc.

Any and all scraps very gladly accepted!!!!

By the way- The Jim Breazeale method of pushing out the front and rear windshield with bare feet worked great for me.

Charles-
I am away on a trip right now and don't remember what I used. It was nothing magical though. The case is aluminum and I used some aluminum cleaner that I had on the shelf. Maybe "Mothers"?
