Great job upholstering that top Frank! Very impressive! Looks like many, many hours to assemble and build that thing. The "fatbacks" are coming along nicely as well. Keep at it; you're almost home!

Thanks Amigos,
I brought the Lady back to the engine.
In a forest i stopped and made this pictures.
On the second picture you see the´52 style Mirrorholder, that was
still there when i purchased the car.

Engine complete new, blasted, painted, new bearings installed, cylinders drilled, starts on first turn.
On the way back to install the interieur.
I bought 18 m² (4 complete cow skins) of the red leather for $700.
Need 2 weeks to fit the carpet and leather things. The seats are already formed and polstered with cocomats.
I bought a carpet at KHM "Klaus Hermann Mayer" near Stuttgart. They told me: "Our Pre A carpet is the best and the form is 100% to the original" <- wrong!
The measurement of the complete rear part was a mess, and has nothing to do with originality. After i told them the problem, they were very arrogant.
Ok, so $700 for a wrong carpet and $300 to fix.
Thanks for looking

Here are some pictures of an unrestored -54 convertible. The carpets should look the same in your car.

Hello Mats,
thanks for the nice pictures.
They will be very helpful.
attached is the wrong firewall part from http://www.cabrio.de (Klaus Hermann Mayer) in Esslingen Germany.
I sent this picture to Mr. Mayer to clear the problem. I told them that
there are missing 10 inch left and right.
"On this picture i cannot see what is wrong, we sell this Pre A parts since 30 years"
since than no clearing with that company.
Thanks for looking

Leather,...nice.
Oh so close Frank.
Too bad about the carpet supplier, but it looks like you worked the problem out yourself. And by Mats posting those original pictures to help you out, it will help out others also who are also looking for what is right for those years. Thanks for the detailed updates. Maybe you are going to be finished in time for driving in the warm weather!

Re: 1953 Cabrio 1300, adria blue, red leather, darkblue Soft
Thanks for posting Steve,
last week i drove 5 days with a temporary 5 day plate, to check if everything works.
I told my girlfriend the first day in the morning maybe to pick me up somewhere, if the engine or something else will not work anymore.
This day i drove 100 Miles, but nothing happened, exept i felt like i am an attraction in a Zoo.
I visited a friend Marko and i made this picture from him.
Everything technical and electrical works very well. It was a lot of fun to drive.
Now i have 300 km on the car.
Attached are a few pictures from the nearly finished interieur.

I just love what you did with the map pocket. At the risk of being a "Copy Cat" I will do that on my '54 Sunroof.

I did that on the 53 cab, The Upholstery guy did it without consulting me or pictures but like it at the end.

Hi, I had my machine shop make new "C" window regulator gears for my '52. If I can be of help, give me a shout. I think they still have the patterns.

Thanks Vic, Jim and Omar.
Jim, 60095 was an German delivery, and had these leather pockets.
Only the cheaper "Max Hoffman cars" dont even had the door pockets.
I welded my window regulator gears, and they are currently working.
Good to know that you can make these gears Jim.
Regards, Frank
