Dana Point Concours d’Élégance
I'm amazed! It's almost a week after the Porsche 356 Club's Dana Point Concours d’Élégance (Sunday, 13 July 2008) and I've actually developed and scanned film before anybody else posted pictures.
Here are some of my obsolete Fuji Velvia photographs. It may be obsolete and slow, but with film like Velvia 100 I get much more resolution than "35mm sized" digital cameras.

Early Pre A Cab
You refer to this car as a 51 cab but surely a 51 would have a split screen and solid wheels.
I don't believe they had over riders on the bumpers either but I'm not 100% on this.
Whatever it is, its a very nice cab.
Cheers
Paul

It was pretty clearly a very early car.
California requires that cars using a Year of Manufacture (YOM) license plate have the correct year tag for the car's year of manufacture. I've been going by the '51 California license plate. Maybe the Cabriolet was produced in late 1951, maybe the owner took a few liberties with the YOM requirements.
It certainly doesn't look like any expense was spared in that Cabriolet's restoration but maybe a non-split windshield was substituted. I'm less expert on the wheels, but I did check and those are 16 inch wheels.
Aren't those the "export" version bumpers from the "body bumper" era?
Now that I think about it, during the Concours there was probably a card on the windshield with the car's information. I should have checked.

1951 Cabriolet?
The blue Cabriolet is actually a 1952 car as you can tell by the STEEL painted door tops in blue as seen through the back window. In a Splitwindshield car, these door top "caps" are made out of hardwood and stained. My '51 Splitcab has a wooden door cap as in the photo below. My '50 coupe is the same also:

color of 52 cab at Dana's point?
I am interested to know the name of the actual color of the blue pre cabriolet? It looks like it is the same colour of the pre A cab in prottyp Hamburg. I am thinking of painting my 55 continental cab that color. thanks John
