Went for an 30-mile drive for lunch on a 90 degree day! The updated oil cooler kept the engine about 10 degrees cooler.

Re: Pre A Speedster Blue Speedster Restoration/Photo History
We had a great drive last weekend to the Crooked Door Tavern for lunch! 2-61 Roadsters (one original owner), Convertible-D (35k original miles), 63 coupe (just turned 101k miles), 59-coupe and my speedster all headed to Albion NY! It was an hour drive it get there and my new old oil cooler kept the speedster cool at 210 degrees during 90 degree weather!

The Driving season is winding down in Upstate NY. The Speedster ran great all summer! I am not looking forward to parking it for the winter.

Thanks Ryan...It was a great learning experience and very rewarding to see it through from start to finish!
This winter I will work on all the little things starting with a pair of NOS windshield wipers with the correct small flat head screw! The devil in in the details.....it never ends!!

Re: Pre A Speedster Blue Speedster Restoration/Photo History
I sincerely doubt it.
My recollection of some article mentioned that was one of the first speedsters; note early fender script. If that car has a 800xx chassis number, then it's possible, but I also think I remember it was red.
And they certainly didn't leave that tape on there for decades.

Re: Pre A Speedster Blue Speedster Restoration/Photo History
Alain,
Great observation regarding the taped on numbers however that speedster is VIN 80002. 80002 was the first speedster imported in the US. Max Hoffman first introduced it at Watkins Glen 1954 then it was shipped off to California where it was owned by Johnny Von Neumann. Clark Gable pictured is driving it at Palm Springs as the course Marshal. 80002 now resides at the Porsche Museum!
