Hey 356 brothers,
years and time is running like hell.
The white speedster was finished some weeks later and was participating at the Mille Miglia in Italy.
My friend was restoring a second speedster in the meantime and guess what... mine is still on the rotisserie after 8 (!) years...
Here are some more pictures from that white speedster which was restored in 11 months.

Beautiful job so far Erich. 8yrs is indeed a long time on the rotisserie, but it is looking perfect.
You guys sure know how to live over there. I just got back from Austria and it is a beautiful place with what seems a very high standard of living. Great roads too, with very fast drivers!
Oh, the women too... WOW!

Re: 356 in Austria, Garage Pics
Winter is finally there Wuhuuu!!
I am preparing one of my 356 for the Icerace revival at Zell am See.
https://gpicerace.com/en/
45 years ago was the last Icerace there and the young Ferdinand Porsche has organized a revival with his partners
Otto Mathe was very succesful there and won serval times.... i will definitely not win, but i hope my shabby 356 will at least be one of the coolest cars there.
Pictures are old and my 356 looks totally different now.

Minnesota has a history of racing on ice including 356s but this is how they do it today - mostly FWD and AWD cars. From last year's race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9hLi5slLVQ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UspwhOkb6OM. I go as a spectator but it sure looks like fun. This year's race was to happen today but has been postponed until next weekend due to soft ice. So next Saturday the 19th, even with the time difference there is the potential for simultaneous racing on ice in Minnesota and Austria - Wuhuuu! But, none of the cars here will be as cool as your 356! Will you have any video footage to share?

What a spectacular Icerace at Zell am See.
It took a while to collect some useful pictures It was so much fun hunting cars and racing my 356 the first time on ice... even i raced the first time on ice.
I was surprised how much grip you have with those "Spike tires"
"Strizel" Stuck was there and had fun with us
I guess i had the most shabby car there but so many people came to our group telling us we had "the coolest car" Hahahah they called me Mr.Telefunken there..
I wanted to have the letters much smaller but i made an error when i ordered the letters but at the end it turned out to look so cool on the car
Here are some short videos:
https://youtu.be/CiFc-9mdXkg
https://youtu.be/qLebIMjlnpM
https://youtu.be/I_2OeTqJ5DM
So what is next for 2020?
Race the Denzel Number 8 on the Ice? Car is sitting since 31 years now.. but hey, it's an aircooled Austrian car. What can go wrong? hahahaha
Have fun with your 356's my friends 8)

Re: 356 in Austria, Garage Pics
Hey Brotherhood,
winter is definitely there here in Austria and it is time to icrace again in Zell am See at the https://www.gpicerace.com/ .
This year it will be even more spectacular than 2019.
I can't wait to jump in my 356 "Icerat" and hit the pedal hahahaa. Even a good friend from California is coming over to see the race. I hope my buddy is not freezing to death here
Last year we had 3° Fahrenheit wich is around -16° Celsius rrrr
Let us play with the ice 8)

Re: 356 in Austria, Garage Pics
Erich you are continuing a long tradition. My late friend Bill Hallack iceraced his VW then bought a competitors 60 Roadster and ice raced it while stationed in Grand Forks,ND. His widow Linda told me their 1st date was an ice race on Devils Lake,ND After Bill died I helped her sell Bubbles to Geneva, Switzerland.
