Tatra and Ferdinand Porsche

#1 Post by Pat Daily »

In 2006 my we visited Prague. Here are a few photos of a 1932 Tatra front wheel drive with a boxer engine (desinged by Dr. Porsche). Our car was piloted by Christian, our guide, and my daughter Shannon thought he was cute. The resemblance between the Tatra engine and our 356s is remarkable.

This Tatra, and a couple of others like it, were beautiful restorations and I would encourage anyone visiting Prague to take a ride in one.

Pat,
The 356CAR group visited a VW enthusiast's collection last year in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition to a great variety of early VW's he owned a Tatra.
Here are some photos of the Tatra he had.

Dan

That looks like a post war version with a V-8. Study the engine photos of the 32 Tatra and note that it is a flat 4 with front wheel drive. That was Dr. Porsche's doings!
