'Stella Blue'

#1 Post by Jim Harrell »

Greetings all! Just wanted to share a few photos of my '58 'A' Coupe named 'Stella Blue' (Grateful Dead fans will know). I helped restore this coupe over 17 years ago with Lowell Sivey. Converted to 12 volts, installed a capacitive discharge ignition; Tricom camshaft, SC pistons and cylinders, 912 heads, and Dellorto carburetors. Needless to say, she scoots! When she was completed, she went to the 1991 East Coast Holiday and took top honors. She recently came home to my garage where she'll remain for the rest of my time with her. Enjoy!

Hope to. I didn't get my registration in by the April deadline, so I guess I'm on the wait list. I'll probably drive on up anyway, even if I don't get in.

Thanks, I'll make a note of that one. Weather permitting, I'm entered into an event that's going to be held at Nottaway Park in Vienna, VA tomorrow called the Deutsche Marque. It's the 25th anniversary of this Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi car show sponsored by the local chapters of all four car clubs. I was a concours judge for the Potomac Region PCA and judged this show many years ago. I spent the better part of today with toothbrush and wax getting 'Stella' ready...lol. Hope the weather gods smile on all tomorrow!

GREAT car. What is the actual paint code? Is it Meissen Blue?
I am restoring a 58 coupe and is a long term project...
It is Meissen Blue with red interior.
Cheers,
Derek

Greetings Derek,

It's Aquamarine Blue (Reutter code #707, Porsche code #5707). It was originally Ivory with a red vinyl interior when restoration began. Customer that the car was being restored for liked the Aquamarine Blue color better, and wanted a gray leather interior.
