#1 Post by Steve Douglas »

The monthly 356 San Mateo Breakfast 8:30 am at IHOP 510 El Camino Real, Belmont. NEW LOCATION

HAKONE GARDENS DRIVE AND PICNIC DRIVE FRON SAN MATEAO TO SKYLINE AND THE SARATOGA GAP Porsche 356 owners, enthusiasts, and copilots, join us for a beautiful drive after the April 7 breakfast in San Mateo along back roads to picnic and visit to the Hakone Japanese Gardens in Saratoga. We will leave our new breakfast meeting place (IHOP restaurant in Belmont - check the 356car.org website) at 10:00 am and take the beautiful Skyline Drive which offers beautiful views of the Bay and the Pacific Ocean. We will take a brief stop at the Skyline Trading Post (across the street from Alice’s Restaurant at Skylonda). At the Trading Post, you can pick up some picnic supplies if you don’t already have them or just stretch your legs and visit. There is a large parking lot to park our beautiful cars for all to enjoy. We will continue on the Skyline until we reach the Saratoga Gap which we will descend toward Saratoga to Hakone Gardens where we will enter, and park. The Gardens has a small picnic area for our use and a large parking. The entry fee to Hakone Gardens is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Early April will be at the end of cherry blossom season so we hope to see some color during our visit. These Japanese gardens are among the most beautiful in California. There is also a delightful gift store. The drive organizer Anne Lamborn will make some hot Spanish tapas to share with everyone and will also have some sushi to share in the spirit of the Japanese gardens. The picnic and self-guided garden visit should be complete around 2-2:30.Maps with the drive route will be past out on April 7.NOTE: THE DRIVE MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN - CHECK OUR WEBSITE BEFORE THE DRIVE OR LOOK FOR AN EMAILFor planning purposes please send Anne Lamborn, the event organizer an email if you plan to attend and if you will have a co-pilot and additional guests.Contact information anne@annelamborn.com and 408-761-2058
