62nd Annual Holiday Motor Excursion (So Cal)

#1 Post by Jim Alton »

Granted, this is a 356 Event only in that Porsche 356s are as welcome as anything to drive in and admire the seriously old cars. There is some overlap of 356 ownership and Horseless Carriage ownership.

This should be a massive gathering of a couple hundred really early cars (authentic 1932 or older vehicles only) with display parking for newer classics (like Porsche 356s). They just ask that the brass era cars be the focus for tour.

The classic cars assemble starting at 7:00 AM at Santa Anita Racetrack (Gate 6) and depart on their excursion a couple hours later. See www.socalhcca.com/holiday-motor-excursion

For those in the Monterey Bay Area:
December 30 is the 5th Saturday Breakfast 9am, at Point Pinos Grill in Pacific Grove, after breakfast a drive to Watsonville to have a “shop tour” Klay Schott is a talented guy, who has Safari Signs, restores various vehicles and is an artist too. He is finishing up a 356 Roadster, and will have some unique cars plus his graphics on display. There may be a 2nd garage to visit after that, lunch at the airport? or maybe Corrolitos Brewery.

Between the crowds and the low sun photography was a challenge. There was one 356 among the spectators:

My 356A was bravely protecting my jackstands from theft so I came in my 911:

Aside from a few other VWs, 911s, 912s and a Corvair, the air-cooled contingent included:
