Recommend everyone stretch their legs a bit and venture further east. Maybe during the fall everyone can head up IH-10 to and through Yucaipa, just past Redlands, and continue up into Oak Glen for some apple pie at Law's restaurant. The roadway peaks out at about 5K feet and the air is always clear up there. Continue through the glen to Cherry Valley and hook back up with IH-10 for the return to your favorite haunts. But, there is always the back way into Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead if everyone is really adventuresome.

It just so happens my PCA Regon's headed that way this Saturday: http://sgb.pca.org/resources/Big_Bear-Oak_Glen.pdf but via an even more scenic route.

Unless marketing in the glen has changed, most of the apples sold there are from orchards in Washington state. Oak Glen is a second home to some of the businesses there, but their orchards are all up in Washington. And yes, Oak Glen apples are also available, but the glen could never supply the demands of their tourist industry during the fall and winter months. Lots of church camps up that way also. Do wish I could participate, but a bit out of my way these days. Wonder if Kent Colby is still keeping the grill hot at Laws restaurant, nahhhh, they probably buried him already. Maybe Alex Law runs it now. If not already exhausted reaching the glen, do scout around up the lanes that venture off the beaten path, lots of good folks in them there hills.
