ECH Transportation

#1 Post by Fred Lawrence »

Plans for shipping my Speedster from/to Indianapolis for the East Coast Holiday just fell through. I'm wondering if anyone traveling through or near Indy might have room add it to their transporter. I would drive it there, but I don't want to take the chance of there not being rain on the travel days. Please contact me through this forum or via email.

Thanks in advance...

Oh, just drive it. I'm driving from Boston and the top is in the attic, haven't used it since '99. I've gotten wet a few times but always dried out .

Just bring paper towels, they come in very handy in the rain.

Tom: Marsha and I bailed. siphoned and swabbed 3 inches of water out of the car after driving it back from the concours at the 2008 ECH and again last year the morning after a heavy rain at Parade. Neither of us want to do it again.
Adam: quoting Paul McCartney "I've seen that road before." I can't even get the top to latch to the windshield clips right now. they used to; I don't know what's happened.
All: The email button is, once again, on my posts. Thanks, Greg Bryan!

Tom,

First you must have drain holes in the aft of the floor. Self bailing. Vacuum effect will suck the water out whilst driving. Works best if the rear mats are shoved under the seats. 7 years of driving a Speedster full time.

Second try spritzing the top so it is somewhat saturated them release the rear hold downs.
Erect the top and attempt to press the rear downward while it is kept wet.
Don't allow the top to dry in a lowered position.

FWIW Perhaps the top is too small?
