Friday Holiday Motorsports Area – Autocross and Funkhana
Two driving events are scheduled for Friday at the Holiday Motorsports Area. A Funkhana will be held for Holiday participants. This event will involve a driver and navigator attempting to negotiate a fun course involving several challenging aspects chosen to develop a positive relationship between the driver, navigator and 356. All Holiday registrants are encouraged to take part.
The second event will be a low-key Autocross. This event will involve a single driver negotiating a tight course in minimum time. The event will not require helmets and is offered to allow participants to attempt an autocross in a relaxed, informal manner. Only street legal 356's are allowed and the course will be set to keep speeds around 40 mph. Again all Holiday registrants are encouraged to give it a try. During the running of these two events, a catered lunch will be served at the Activity Center Tent. Bag lunches are available for pickup for those that choose to go out on the their own.
Self-Guided Scenic Tours
Several optional self-guided scenic tours will be offered for those who elect to tour. Route directions, mileages, estimated duration, places of interest and local hikes will be available in your registration packet and the Holiday Motorsports Area tent. The tours will range from one hour to full day. They will include circumventing Lake Tahoe, a drive on old Highway 80 and a tour to Portola via Highway 89 North that will offer a train museum, antique shops and great driving roads. On Friday the bag lunch will be available at 9am for those departing on the self-guided scenic tours.
Saturday Concours
The Saturday peoples choice concours is now going to be held on the beautiful Resort at Squaw Creek lawns and fairways of the resort golf course. This site is directly adjacent to the Resort and will provide a spectacular setting for the cars. Every registrant is encouraged to place their car in the show and enjoy what should be a special day.
Sunday Swap Meet
Coffee and pastries will be offered at the Swap Meet site located at the Holiday Motorsports area. Swap begins at "O Dark Thirty"! Bring your stuff.

Autocrossers and Fans of the 2008 WCH,
The results of the 2008 WCH Autocross are shown below. Click the image to see it full size. The Autocross Volunteers hope you had a great time and as the guy who did most of the flagging I can attest to all of the smiles as you crossed the finish line.
Mark Grimstvedt was the AutocrossMeister and Chairmen, and of course Rich Peters made it all possible by convincing the 356 Registry that we could make it happen in a safe, fair and fun way. We did it thanks to more than fifteen hard working volunteers (Mostly East Bay Greasers) and the great folks who raced their beloved 356's between the pylons. We even had a Gmund coupe and Carrera out there. Very cool!
Thanks also go out to Jim Breazeale of EASY and Alan Klingen of The Stable.
I am told that this was the first autocross ever held by the Registry. Way to go guys and gals!
Congrats to our winners Jim Derch in the Men's Divsions and Candyce Jensen in the Women's Division, but actually congrats to all of you first-timers and old-timers. We did over 220 laps!

Much of the credit goes to Skid Hall who obtained insurance for the
AX through the Registry Insurance carrier.
