2014 East Coast Holiday Poll

#1 Post by Daryle Higginbotham »

The Southern 356 Owners Group is considering hosting a 2014 East Coast Holiday in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. The three weekends being considered are September 27th, October 25th, or November 1st of 2014.

Also, we are thinking about a two tier registration.

Tier 1 - Full registration including lodging at the host hotel.
Tier 2 - Event registration only - attendee will need to make their own hotel reservations

Tentative Schedule

Thursday - Check In
Friday - Drive event with lunch at destination.
Saturday - Drive event with night time concours.
Sunday - Checkout after breakfast.

Just in the initial planning stage and would appreciate hearing how much interest we have from our members. Please reply to the poll when you have a little time.

Daryle,
If some members have no date preference if may be more helpful to allow votes for those dates which are acceptable rather than forcing an arbitrary choice. Just a thought, so you could vote for five. I'm sure we all appreciate your consideration for hosting our next ECH. Regards, Bill

Hi Daryle,
Thank you for considering taking on such great responsibility.

I voted for September based on the hope that the weather would be best. Keep in mind that Tom could see snow in Boston in November. He doesn't even have a top for his Speedster!

Actually I have two tops for Blackie, they're both in the attic. I agree w/ Cliff as we do have our snow plows out by Oct and the Tubs are pretty much put away. Sept looks attractive from here. Some of us are making the run down to Helen, GA in Sept (19-21) this year to see our buddy George Bryan and his pals, we'll report back as to how that went. KTF

I agree, the drive to Helen, GA last month was perfect. The tourists were off the roads, the temps were in the 70's and it didn't rain going or coming. Great time of year for our Tubs.

Please be aware that Sept25-27th is a religious holiday(Rosh Hashanah)
I would normally attend however, the timing of the proposed2014ECH prevents me and some others from attending this event.

I like the September date, I must say its been a while since the snowplows were out in Boston in October. I expect to be driving well into November!

I regretfully will not be attending the 2014 ECH this year because it falls on a very religious Jewish holiday.I am sure this was an oversight by the planners.
Was there any consultation re the date picked?
I fear there may be "others" who may have to forgo this years ECH as result of the date selected.
Hopefully next year the will be some discovery of holidays.
This will be my first ECH to miss since 2008.
Regretfully submitted

2014 ECH Up-Date

#12 Post by Daryle Higginbotham »

The 2014 ECH Team is excited about hosting this event for our fellow 356 enthusiasts. We look forward to sharing a little of our special Appalachia history and mountain roads with members from other parts of the world. Holidays are truly a great way meet new people and make great memories.

Our key topic during our last meeting was focused on the drives. With the help of our fellow members, we have two destination drives planned that should make the girls very happy. This region of North Carolina has many small mountain towns that are full of specialty shopping. Make sure you bolt on that luggage rack before you leave!

The web site goes live in January.
