#1 Post by Steve Douglas »

356 CAR Tour, West Marin and Sonoma Backroads
“Pt Reyes Picnic and Lagunitas Brewery”
June 15th Saturday Meet 9:30am San Rafael
It's Father's day weekend, what better to celebrate the day before driving a Porsche?
Start At the Park & Ride Lot, Hwy #101 at the Lucas Valley Rd. Exit #456
Safety Meeting 9:45, Tour Leaves 10am sharp on Lucas Valley Rd west.

The lot is on the east side of the freeway, next to the Bank of America
Come prepared, as there are no services at the lot. In other words NO Coffee, No Gas and No Bathrooms. Closest Services at Northgate Shopping Center at Freitas Parkway, one exit South.
Bring Your Own Picnic Supplies or be ready to buy them along the way. The coastal weather can be cold windy and damp, or?? come prepared. There are a limited number of picnic tables, bring something to sit on, cloth, blanket, chair, in case they are full.
1st Stop- will be Nicasio Cheese Company, small store with samples and organic fresh cheeses.
2nd Stop- will be in Point Reyes Station, as there is many things to do we will spend about a little over an hour. The Saturday Farmers Market, is at Toby’s Feed Barn which is a fun store and a coffee bar. Cowgirl Creamery, and Cantina has wonderful Cheeses and picnic supplies. Not to be missed is the Bovine Bakery, pastries, breads and Coffee.
3rd Stop- about 30 miniute drive out to Pt Reyes, a picnic lunch, depends upon the weather: if cold and windy it will be inland at the Bear Valley Visitors Center, if nice it will be at Drake’s Beach. Optional Lighthouse visit, $5 for the bus ride.
It’s about 40 miles to Petaluma from Pt Reyes, not fast but scenic. Arriving at the
End of tour will be about 3:30pm at Lagunitas Brewery, a time to relax in their outdoor patio, take a brewery tour, enjoy a beverage and pub grub. A nice way to end a “rough day”on the road, ending location North end of Petaluma, near Redwood Rd and #101.

Hi Jay, It will be great to see you and the wife. Maybe we can get a few more from the City to come along. A few from the East Bay have already said they are coming, along with some from the North Bay. Hoping for 20-30 cars. I'm staying in Mill Valley at George Slater's cottage. By the way on that Sunday Stern Grove has Boz Skaggs and Michael McDonald as open this years free concerts, should be a great way to end up the 356 weekend.
Steve
