It's ON! The 2008 Ventura Show, Sep 13-14, Ventura CA

#1 Post by Bob Campbell »

Porsche Friends,

Well, you know the old saying “better late than never?”, that is exactly how Karen and I feel about the Ventura show right now. The Boys at World Wide Motoring have stepped up and will definitely host the 2008 Ventura Show on September 13th & 14th, which is the second weekend in September, at Seaside Park in Ventura.

All involved are painfully aware that this show is only 4 weeks off, but World Class Motoring is committed to continuing and growing The Ventura Show, regardless of the obvious struggle this 2008 show may present.

Karen and I will stay involved and assist World Class Motoring with this years show and we invite all our friends, despite the short notice, to come on out to the beach next month and enjoy lotsa cars, some new items and some old friends.

For more information and all event entries and Vendor registration, visit www.WorldClassMotoring.com or call 800-986-4977 or 818-706-9999. All new information will also soon be posted at www.TheVenturaShow.com

See you there,

Bob

So, did anyone on the list make it up to the Ventura Show today? Anyone planning to go to the swap meet tomorrow (or know if there is one)?

Thanks,

Charles

Charles - Yes, there is a Swap Meet at The Ventura Show tomorrow.
I did not go up today, but am planning to be there tomorrow.
Love to hear how big the show was today with such short notice...

Charles -
Per telecon with one of the Shows sponsors (World Class Motoring) today, Saturday: -
They indicated that most all available swap meet spaces/stalls have been taken/filled for Sunday's event. I plan to attend.

I went to the swap meet on Sunday. I must say it was not like previous years. Not much to look at, because there weren't that many vendors. It certainly was not worth the $17 to get in.

We arrived at 11:30 am Sunday, hoping to find some "pearls" at the Swap Meet.
The place was so empty of cars/people, we asked for our money back (got it) and headed for the beach.
Big disappointment.

I went on Saturday with my family. It was anti-climactic, but I guess with very little organization, it was worth it for me. My son liked it, I liked seeing all the cars, especially in one place. I was expecting a few more cars and some more rare ones. The ones that I did see on the other hand were definetly pleasing. On the other hand, it doesn't take much to please me, I'm happy with warm cookies and a glass of milk! I can post pics if anybody cares.

Yes, please do for us right coasters unable to attend.

Hopefully this show will continue, I have been planning to attend the Ventura show for quite a while. My sister lives in Ventura & it would be great to see some 356's & do a little surfing while visiting.

After getting a bit of back-channel chiding for showing up to a Swap Meet at 11:30 am, let me say, yes, I know that's much too late to find any of "the good stuff."

We found that there were very few cars or people at the show on Sunday midday. There was a "Patina Parade" concours scheduled for Sunday, but there were only a handful of cars parked on the display lawn (like maybe five). In retrospect a Saturday visit would have been smarter. In years past Sunday has always been the lower attendance day at the Ventura Show, but this year's Sunday crowd was woefully small.

We drove up to the show with low expectations, but we over-estimated. Sorry.

yes the swap meet was smaller , but at 8am it was 2/3rds plus full,
not as much as last year , but the new organizers only had a month or so to get it going

Who shows up at a Swap at 11:30 ???

Next year will be better and probably back to normal,
the new guys will have a full year to advertise the show...

Anyone know what date it will be next yerar ?

Dave

PS....entrance was $12 , parking fee that the organizers did not get was $5
