In George Dunn’s “President’s Letter” (March / April 2012 issue of the Registry Magazine), he included the following statement:
“We are also interested in supporting low-key, low-cost regional events possibly similar to the very successful East Coast “Drive Your 356” event hosted by the “Gang of Three” last September in the Georgia mountains. Remember, it doesn’t have to be complicated and it doesn’t have to be expensive.”
This posting is on behalf of the “Gang of Five,” the organizers of the October 2012 “Third Coast 356 Oktoberfest” event here in West Michigan. We want to publicly express our sincere “thank you” to George Dunn and all of the trustees for their decision to provide a level of financial support to our event.
Our “gathering of the faithful” was definitely inspired by the success of the event last year in Georgia, and we have stayed true to their concept of a “low cost, low key” but highly enjoyable event.
You can check out the registration form at this link: http://www.viewdocsonline.com/document/2pzgya

Our “thank you” also to George Bryan and Roy Lock for their input in helping us get our plans in motion. Registrations are starting to arrive, including Registry members from as far away as New Hampshire, Texas and Georgia. It is limited to 56 registrants and 56 co-registrants on a first come, first serve basis. Please join us!

Bill,
You are right. This club is successful because our club leaders are actively listening to suggestions from the membership. The club wont die on the vine with this type of dedication and involvement.
A challenge to active memebers: grab a couple of buddies and beers, and brainstorm one of these events in your area. Its not that hard, and former organizers will surely discuss with you how to go about it if you ask. Keep it light, and you will have a blast. There are a lot of spactacular areas in this country that are off the beaten path and cant support a large event... and I bet the local hotels will be willing to work with you to get the business.
What else are you doing with your time.... watching American idol??

More like American Idle.
I gave up TV in '98. Best decision I've ever made.
