ECH 2012, Boston, MA August 2012

#1 Post by Thomas B Gentz »

Hello all,

Save the dates from Wednesday, August 15, 2012 through Sunday, August 19, 2012.

The East Coast Holiday 2012 (ECH 2012) will be held in Boston in August 2012. You may have seen some recent ads in the 356 Registry magazine.

The organizing committee is pleased to announce tech sessions, a People's Choice Concours, seafood, New England drives, shopping trips, Duck Boat Trips, whale watches, Minuteman statues, a swap meet, lobster bake, autocross, banquet with seafood options, the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill, the Freedom Trail, and an all around wonderful time to catch up with good friends, and meet new ones!

The ECH 2012 headquarters will be in Danvers, MA 20 minutes north of Boston.

Registration will officially open March 1, 2012.

The ECH 2012 website is:

http://www.ECH2012.com

The ECH 2012 will need volunteers and corporate sponsors to welcome 356 Registry members from around the county and around the world to the ECH 2012, so let me know if you are interested in volunteering or becoming an ECH 2012 sponsor and what event you would like to volunteer or sponsor during the ECH 2012. The organizing committee wants everyone to enjoy the event, so if many 356 Registry members volunteer, or sponsor, then you can enjoy the events too as a participant.

Plan on joining us!

Sincerely,

Tom Gentz

Tom,

We haven't been to a Holiday for a few years now but I guess wr have to go. According to Google Maps, avoiding highways it's 356 miles from Kutztown, PA to Danvers, MA.

See you there,

Hi Mike,

Now that is a new one. I have seen road signs, exit signs, but not Google Map mileage of 356.

We look forward to your attendance and having fun with us in August of 2012.

Hello Members,

We have not opened registration as yet. That will open on March 1, 2012, so please do not contact the Registrar until we are ready to go. I understand everyone is excited to come to Boston this summer, but the committee is still working on finalizing events and schedules, so the Registration form is not finalized until the website says so.

Hello All,

Registration is now open for the ECH 2012 in Boston!

There are two forms that can be filled in on your computer in Adobe Acrobat. The Registration Form and the Autocross Registration Form. It should be noted that you cannot save the form, but only fill it out and then print it out. This helps our Registrar that cannot read scribbles on a small form. So, please use the Adobe forms and then print them out, sign them (a necessity) and mail them by snail mail to the Registrar.

We look forward to welcoming you to Boston in August.

The ECH 2012 Committee

We're making steady progress towards the ECH in August. With over 215 already registered this looks to be the largest Holiday ever. That's the good news, but the bad news is that the Fay Butler Tour has been filled. We will maintain a waiting list but for now it's full. See you in Boston and KTF.

Hello All,

The ECH 2012 is becoming a great Holiday for three reasons:

o Karl Ludvigsen, author of Porsche: Excellence is Expected has written a new book titled: Porsche: Origin of the Species about the Gmund Coupe. Bentley Publishers will be recognizing Karl's new book at the ECH 2012 and the ECH 2012 will be the world premier for the Origin and will be the banquet sponsor. Karl will be the featured speaker at the ECH 2012. Karl will be signing books for attendees prior to the Saturday night banquet., A little known fact is Chuck Stoddard and Karl Ludvigsen were roommates in college at MIT. I wonder if Chuck has any stories about Karl, or vice versa? The ECH 2012 staff has received commitments for five or six Gmund coupes. More than have been together since they left the factory in Gmund, Austria. This is a must see event for that reason!

o The tech session with Fay Butler, acclaimed metal fabricator on Wednesday has been sold out already. Fay taught Jesse James of West Coast Chopper fame. Jesse has a new TV show from his Austin, Texas shop.

o Lobsta will be served on Thursday night.

Some considerations for you:

o The hotel is filling up and you cannot get a room unless you register
o The registration fee increases $100 after July 1. 2012
o Lobsta

We will be offering Duck Boat tours on the Charles River in Boston, a trip to the USS Constitution with private parking for photos of your car and the USS Constitution. Old Ironsides is only seen in Boston and we have special permission for your visit. A bus tour for Whalewatching in Gloucester, MA. Lobsta. And the best part: seeing your friends and benchracing.

Join us by registering soon at:

Hello All,

TYP356ne will be purchasing three of Karl Ludvigsen’s “Porsche – Origins of the Species” books that be World Premiered at the ECH 2012 and donating them to three ECH 2012 attendees

The ECH 2012 staff will have a random drawing on July 5, 2012 which will allow registration forms postmarked July 1, 2012 to be entered in the drawing.

The book will be signed by the author Karl Ludvigsen for the three winners.

Here is the link at Bentley Publishers to review the book:

http://www.bentleypublishers.com/porsch ... igsen.html

The organizers of the ECH 2012 hope that you plan to attend and enjoy an opportunity to meet Karl personally and enjoy all the other Porsche 356 Registry ECH 2012 events that have been designed to keep you fully occupied with other 356 enthusiasts and renew old friendships or start new friendships with 356 owners and drivers from all over the country and parts of the world.

Remember that the theme is the Gmünd coupe and Karl’s book, “Porsche - Origin of the Species” is written about the first Porsches.

Come join us!
