54 V Windshield Cabriolet - Help Required Please

We are restoring here in New Zealand a 1954 original right hand drive cabriolet 1500s for a good friend who has terminal cancer. His wish whilst he still has time is to restore the car and we are assisting him with this process. He and his wife are life members of Porsche club New Zealand and he also owns a 59 T5 cabriolet, one of the original 20 cars sold new in New Zealand.

The car has been stripped to bare metal and all the major panel work has been completed.

The assistance we seek is for the following please:
-Anyone who has detailed photos of a 54 Cabriolet either finished or during restoration.
-Anyone who has any sort of detailed reference material relating to the 54 cabriolet
-Anyone who has suggestions for where we might be able to source a yet to be determined range of parts that are missing. (In particular an engine case)

Angus,
Albert is one of the best sources of Pre A parts, especially the hard-to-find engine and mechanical parts.
You will struggle to find a 528 engine case which is correct for a 1500 Super, but will have more luck finding a 546 engine case, which was used for 1500 Normals.
James Davies, here on the Registry, has become quite the expert on Pre As of that era and will usually chip in if you have any queries.
I am at the tail end of restoring a 1500S coupe and happy to help with questions if and when able to do so.
I'd also recommend joining the Pre A facebook group. Lots of help available on there.
