Engine lateral cover plates for 55 pre A

#1 Post by Pat Yanahan »

The lateral cover plates which are part of the engine sheet metal are slightly smaller on a pre A engine. These are the horizontal plates that are above the valve covers and below the intake manifolds. Any ideas on who may source these?

I did not realize these changed size at all throughout 356 production. The engine block shape and the hole it fits into is identical between 1955 and 1956, pre-A to A. And the 1955 ones are identical to the 1953 ones as far as I know. Anyone else have info on this?

The 1953 and 1955 parts book give the same part number for these:

369.06.140
369.06.141

+1 However, people have been known to cut those to fit in a VW engine bay.
