My Car docked at southampton on Monday around 13.30, I have just chased the shipping company I used to see if they have received it yet. They have told me it is still sat on the dockside waiting to clear customs...…..
They tell me that it may clear customs tomorrow so I maybe able to collect on Friday afternoon.
My fingers are crossed. :D

In fact the 356 Registry was created as a registry of 356s. For many years the back cover of the magazine was a request form. For 15 years I was the registrar, until officers who had joined the Registry decided to no longer have a registry. I was theatened with expulsion if I kept collecting numbers on 356TALK. Here is the objectionable request -- note capitalized words.

Please list as much "Kardex/Certificate of Authenticity" information as known so that your 356(s) may be registered in the 356 Registry. Needed are serial number and condition (driver, under restoration, restored, scrapped, project) as a minimum. PreA, original owner/family, limited production, original, 4-cam, unusual, non-US and scrapped cars especially sought. Information provided will go to a public database. It is desirable that we have your name, phone number, and/or e-mail address so that a person with a similar car can contact you. HOWEVER, IF YOU PREFER, I WILL NOT LIST SOME OR ALL OF YOUR DEMOGRAPHICS

I drove to the shipping company here in Southampton this morning, my car is in this container...

They said they were in the middle of unloading 4 containers, the container with my car in was next, so hopefully it will be ready for collection today!!!!

It was painful watching the guys removing the cars from the container yesterday, I just wanted to push them out of the way and do it myself.

The forklift they were using kept breaking down, eventually it gave up the ghost and they had to get another one to lift it out of the container..

Eventually my car was ready to be driven out but would not start..
I removed the battery and we pushed it into their warehouse where it temporarily resides.. This afternoon I bought a 6v battery conditioner, the battery is now on charge!!
When I connected The conditioner, it said the battery was 75% charged, not 100% sure if this is enough reason to not activate the starter motor, I will find out more tomorrow when I return to try!!!!!

Very exciting & thanks for sharing the great photos Paul. You might take an extra battery & some jumper cables with you tomorrow - just in case!

You may have this all sorted but in case you haven't, & assuming she's been running in the not so distant past, you could try one of those small emergency starter power packs to aid the initial start. Needs 2 people, once the starter is engaged connect the power pack it should whizz over and start pretty quickly, disconnect as soon as she fires. I use the car a lot more now so haven't needed to do this for a few years but I've done this a few times using a 12 V battery with no ill effects. A friend of mine recently had need to do this and had one of these power packs it made it so much easier so I got myself one just in case.

Years ago someone did explain to me about how the power the starter draws buffers/protects the 6V electrical system, can't remember the details but I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable than me will be able to chip in.

Hope this helps.

I bought a NOBO power 12v power pack when we were on holiday in Naples in September last year.. I made a list up of the tools I needed to take with me this morning. I wrote in large capital letters "NOBO CHARGER".
I still forgot it..... old age!!!! :?
I eventually got it started this morning, drove it home and locked it away safe.

p.s Don't let the blue sky fool you, the weather has been dreadful here.... I drove it home in the rain. The gravel drive to our house is full of pot holes 6" deep in water
