turbo rings

I am cleaning up my turbo rings on my 1953 Cab and am wondering if the finish was originally painted or polished. If painted, can anyone point me in the direction of the correct paint formula?

yes clear anodized all the original ones i have seen including my set of 5 , have a foggy nonuniform look to them. unlike the bright anodized used on the hood handles.
