Screws that hold the ally discs for the seat back buffers

#1 Post by Vincent Gillespie »

Hello, I'm having a 'Doubting Thomas' moment, I have what my notes and labels say are the screws that hold the circular aluminium discs that the seat back buffers rest on but they seem extraordinarily long.

The head is a perfect fit, the note & label says what they are, but they may have got mixed up during chroming, & none of my original photos show the full length, can anyone reassure me, before I cock it up, that the 20mm long screw shown in the photo is correct?

If they are correct it's yet another 4 holes for water to come in or out, I'm astonished how many of the fixing screws punch right through, a new use for a 356, a colander!

Yes, 20mm screws.

Recall that these cars were built pretty quickly and the schutz on the bottom was quite soft and took a long time to dry. I have a feeling that all the tacks, screws etc Reutter put into these cars for the interior were automatically sealed on the back side by the schutz.
