Hello all, again! I hope you'll not be sick of my questions by the time this is done!
Judging by the mounting points it would appear this panel is fixed in with a form of turnbuckle but nothing I have in the various bits that came with the car will do the job, mind you it's a darn sight easier getting a fastener than a clock and panel!! Can any anyone tell me how this panel is secured into the dash and what the fastener looks like? I have searched the registry and looked at other projects and sites with no joy.
Thanks

Just to let you know problem solved, once again Mike Smith PR Services came through and not only sent us photos but has lent me the necessary to copy, simply brilliant.

The knowledge, help and support of James Davies and many others in the US answering questions on this forum and Mike, Paul and Kevin of PR Services over here is simply fantastic, we wish there was some way to repay you all.

Vincent,
Gary Constantine at Brezelwerks used to sell the hardware on the Samba site, but his ad is currently deleted. Probably simpler to make a set since you're on the other side of the pond, but here's what I bought from him a couple years ago:

Glad you're sorted Vincent. Interesting-looking clock! Would love to see the face. Is it a Veigel?

Thanks Mr. Harris this is exactly what Mike Smith sent me and now I have something to copy it'll be relatively simple.

James, when we first bought the car, 30 odd years ago, we were lucky enough to get with it the log book with the full history of the owners and addresses during their ownership, different times!!, so we were able to contact and meet the first owner, Mr. Neville Pledger, and have a long correspondence with the second, Ray Butler, who really cherished KCT for over 10 years, both now passed away. But we are still in touch with Mr. Butler's wife and sons and keep them updated with progress. With these contacts we know that the car was delivered with just the blanking plate and Mr. Butler fitted the clock which is dated 1951. I will post a photo of the front of the clock ASAP, it's Sat night here and a glass of wine beckons!
Thanks

Hello, Here is a photo of the clock face. Thanks to Mr Harris's reply I knew what to search for on the internet, 'VW barndoor pod fasteners' now why did I not think of that? and found them available through a company called BBT in the Netherlands good value at 9 Euro a set but I thought the P&P at 10 Euro was a bit much as I'm pretty sure they don't way +1KG! and they asked me to sign the credit card receipt and FAX it back, who has one of those.

it's a split window VW clock. the adjusting rod protrudes into the glove box. Those are getting pretty hard to find.

Clever design Jules! 8)

The large-format Veigel clock used on Porsches had the winder pointing down, and it was quite long as well.

No need to cut a hole in the glove box with a right hand drive

Nice piece Mike. Does the clock have concave glass like the Veigel gauges?
