What a resource this group is. With your help I have specked and found the correct generator for my 53,two piece case engine.
I now need the lower pulley , mine is an aluminum after market. I need help in finding an original in the correct slinger style. Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark, these have been reproduced.

The one pictured would have been painted black for 1952 (as would have been the upper pulley). Both nuts cad-plated.

James can probably tell you if the pulleys on your car were originally painted black, or electroplated finished - - -

Ha!

We are on the same page Don.

Yeah, Porsche started cad-plating the upper and lower pulleys sometime between mid-April and mid-May 1953. Before that, black paint.

Btw, has anyone ever seen a version of this pulley without the reverse threading on the outer part acting as oil slinger back into the case? I have an NOS one like this. No threading, Porsche part. Not sure how it would be used on a 2-piece case engine. Perhaps with a seal of some sort?

James; I think that pulley is for an early 3-piece case industrial engine.

Interesting Vic. I thought those industrial engine pulleys had a bit larger diameter and a 546.xx.xxx part number. Mine has a tag attached with part number 356.02.102.1. It has the normal 170.5mm diameter used on all the 2-piece case engines except for the 1100. Odd.
